Use whichever technique is most convenient at the moment. Double-click notepad2.exe to open Notepad2 with a blank file or Set up a shortcut to notepad2.exe, then Double-click shortcut icon to open Notepad2 with a blank file or Drag and drop a file onto the shortcut to edit that file or Set up a file association, e.g., to .txt files, then Double-click such a file to open it with Notepad2 or Right-click a file and select Edit from the context menu or If Notepad2 is already started, Just drag a file onto its window or Click the New icon on the toolbar to start a blank file or Click the Open icon on the toolbar; browse for an existing file or Add Notepad2 to your "Send To" list Then right-click any file and select Notepad2 from the list to open that file with Notepad2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ How to add an entry to your "Send To" list Create a shortcut to the desired program Name it $_program, e.g., $_Notepad2 (The "$_" prefix just sorts it to the top of the displayed list) Open the SendTo directory (method depends on operating system) Windows 7: In Explorer, type shell:sendto in the address bar Windows XP: In Explorer, go to "Documents and Settings\userid" If SendTo is not visible, you need to change File Options to display hidden files Click the SendTo directory Drag the $_Notepad2 shortcut to the SendTo directory Close the SendTo directory Now when you right-click a file, $_Notepad2 should be in the list ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tailor Notepad2 by adding a printer icon to its toolbar Open Notepad2 Click Settings, then Customize toolbar...
