* *** 2015_COMMENTS_ON_HARDCOPY_UNDATED_PRECINCT_OFFICIAL_MANUAL TXT - 5 Aug 2015 23:43:02 - JKNAUTH Inside front cover: The old manual separated the physical and mailing addresses for the BOE. This manual seems to combine them. Will something mailed to the following address get delivered by USPS with no problems? 337 S Salisbury St, Ground Floor PO Box 695 Raleigh, NC 27602 Inside front cover: There should be some explicit indication that (919) 856-6240 is the public phone number for the BOE, as the old manual had it. Then there will be less likelihood that one of the top (non-public) numbers will be used if a precinct official needs to find it for some irate "absentee" voter. Note that page 42 does not list the public phone number, so the precinct official would probably need to find it on this cover page. The number IS listed on page 79 for the media. Page 7: Top box: on ballot box -> on the ballot box Page 8: It looks like some text was lost. Just before the top bullets shouldn't there be: "If the Tabulator stops working" Page 8: Some details were deleted (vs. the old manual) about Tabulator messages when processing emergency ballots at Poll Closing. Was that because the information is now in some "Quick Guide", so shouldn't be included here? Hooray, if so. I don't have the latest other QG material to check, so I'm just guessing. Page 13: Will the pen strings be pre-installed now by the BOE so we don't have to add them at Monday setup (unless one is missing)? That would be nice; it would save some time at setup. Page 15: First bullet: absenses effect -> absences affect (a 2-fer) Page 16: Bullets 13 and 14: There seems to be some redundancy on training requirements for Judges and Assistants. Page 16: Bullet 20: What's this about Coordinators having to attend "the Monday Setup meeting"? I know they sometimes try to make an appearance for special cases, e.g., a new CJ in a complicated environment, but they can't attend all the Monday Setup meetings, even briefly. Page 41: The two images do not show the initials of the official who wrote "ERROR". The old manual did show them. Page 42: Maybe just add the public number for the BOE. See front cover comment above. I noticed that "M100" has been deleted almost everywhere. Is the BOE looking to get a new type of tabulator soon? Or is this just to try to be as generic as possible? Jeff Knauth
