* *** NEXTDOOR_POSTS_FOR_2020-11-03 TXT - 23 Oct 2020 17:03:24 - JKNAUTH (Nextdoor post done on 9/12/20 for Precincts 19-19 and 19-18) ======================================================================== Information about the 11/3/2020 Election ----------- ----- --- --------- -------- If you are seeing this post, it is likely that you are in Wake County voting precinct 19-19 or 19-18. I am the Chief Judge for Precinct 19-19. The pre-election information I would normally post here is pretty extensive this time. As you probably know, a LOT is going on that affects the 11/3/2020 election. Rather than creating a very long Nextdoor post, I'm putting the information in two web pages. One page, http://jgkhome.name/WakeBOE/Current_Election_2020-11-03.htm, is more focused on things new for us in this election, such as COVID-19 considerations, changes to the ways absentee ballots are requested and tracked, concerns about unnecessary visits to the polling place, our new Congressional District, and the B0002 ballot we will use. The second page is my usual "Information Mainly for Precinct 19-19 Voters", http://jgkhome.name/WakeBOE/19-19.htm. It has information that changes relatively little from election to election, such as maps and diagrams, links to access and change voter registration information, links for early voting sites and absentee voting, instructions for proper use of the Tabulator, Stanford Creek Elementary School considerations, and an iMAPS tutorial. Although some of this page is specific to 19-19 voters, a good portion is relevant to 19-18 (and other) voters as well. There is some overlap between the two pages, mainly in listing links to important Wake County and NC State Boards of Elections web pages. I just wanted to be sure those useful links were available in case someone looked at only one of my two pages. Jeff Knauth Chief Judge for Precinct 19-19 (Nextdoor post done on 10/23/20 for Precincts 19-19 and 19-18) ======================================================================== Election Information -------- ----------- If you are planning to vote absentee-by-mail, time is growing short. See http://www.wakegov.com/elections/info/Pages/absentee.aspx for deadlines. Certainly don't assume instantaneous USPS delivery to you or from you. Early voting is definitely going strong and will continue until 10/31/20 3:00 PM. There will probably be especially long lines the last few days. The Wake County BOE has a page with an "estimated wait time" for all twenty early voting sites; they update it frequently: https://airtable.com/shrv4d2kjiDLp8maX/tblH5c7yZKTXW74jQ Unfortunately for us, the Northern Regional Center usually has among the longest wait times. A good alternative is at Wake Technical Community College, North Campus, Building K. A map and directions are in http://jgkhome.name/WakeBOE/19-19.htm#early by the "Wake Tech North Campus, Building K" link. The NC State BOE publishes information about the current number of registered voters and the number of ballots cast at early voting sites or absentee-by-mail. I have created some graphs that show the daily voting progress. See the "Ballot Statistics" link in http://jgkhome.name/WakeBOE/Current_Election_2020-11-03.htm#links If you are a voter registered in Precinct 19-19 and have not voted absentee or at an early voting site by Election Day, 11/3/20, we expect to see you at Sanford Creek Elementary School. Maps and other information are provided in http://jgkhome.name/WakeBOE/19-19.htm Hopefully the weather will be as good on Election Day as it has been recently. There is no guarantee of that, of course. Because of the expected large turnout and COVID-19 social distancing requirements, there will likely be more "waiting in line OUTSIDE the building" than in past elections.
