* *** COMMENTS_ON_11-5-24_BASIC_MODULE TXT - 31 Aug 2024 01:56:13 - JGKNAUTH Comments of Basic Module for 11/5/24 Election -------- -- ----- ------ --- ------- -------- The Basic module was very good. I won't repeat here many comments I have made elsewhere, e.g., on the flowchart. I didn't have any navigation problems. However on some of the videos I was not able to move the slider back and forth, e.g., to replay a section. Maybe that's just the way it is when the video is played in the module vs standalone on the PO website. In the following I'll use the slide number to identify the area. On some of the slides, the slide number shown may actually refer to a number of sub-sides that you get to by clicking something on the base slide. Hopefully you can figure out which one I'm commenting on. 21 This almost encourages CJs to wait until two weeks before Election Day before contacting the POs. Anyway, here the POs should be warned to frequently check their spam folders. 73 Nothing is said about marking the ATV before sending the voter to the HT although it is mentioned later. 114 The name update section shows an address being filled in as well as a Section C signature and YES checkbox. The heading text says no address info is needed. I thought (per the HTQG) that ONLY the name field was to be filled in for "name on label is wrong". 148 You say the Official should advise the voter to watch for the count to increase to know if their vote was counted. I have always thought that was a very bad idea. Sometimes the count has already changed by the time the voter is reminded to look. Or the voter may not properly detect the change; I have definitely seen that happen years ago and the voter caused a hassle. Instead I think the proper advice is to say wait until the nice big screen says, "Your vote has been counted" or it says there is an error. 153 The jam image shown does not say whether the ballot has been counted or not. (Note the bold text about this.) Is this an old image? The PO website "Tabulator Error Messages" does show the proper image. 156 Are voters allowed to have their phones out doing research while standing in the RT line in the voting enclosure? It is absolutely impossible to detect if they are also taking pictures. Shouldn't such smart phone research be restricted to just when the voter is in the voting booth? If I see someone using a smartphone, I tell them to put it away until they get in the booth. 159 I sure wish someone would chop off the first 20+ seconds of the curbside video. The video should focus on the important stuff, which is complicated and you need to get to it ASAP. 179 The slide explicitly says Judges are the ones who empty the voted ballots bin. Why is this video, etc., in the Basic module? I suppose you will say it is because the CJ can ask non-Judges to assist, so they need to be educated. General comment: The Tabulator images all use the special "Protected Count" configuration, which is not what is used at polling places. They also don't show the "magic" button. Note that the button is shown on the Welcome screen in the PO website's "Opening and Closing the Polls" video. Different software levels? Maybe that's why the button was not found when doing the recent CJPG update. Jeff
