Instructions for Keurig K-Express Coffee Maker

  1. Lift the handle of the K-Cup pod holder (the large plastic tab in front) and rotate up the cover.
(This will power on the coffee maker if it is not already powered on.)
  2. If the "ADD WATER" light is lit, add water to the reservoir in back.
    1. Lift off the reservoir's small black plastic lid.
    2. Pour in some water, but DON'T overfill the reservoir.
(The maximum water level is shown by the marker tape on the reservoir side.)
    3. Replace the reservoir lid.
  3. Put an empty coffee cup on the drip tray, toward the left side, under the spout.
DON'T FORGET TO DO THIS !!!
  4. Insert a K-Cup pod.
    1. Remove and discard any old K-Cup pod if present.
    2. Shake and insert a new K-Cup pod.
Bypass this step when doing a cleanup after a cappuccino or cocoa cup. See the CLEANUP NOTE below.
    3. Firmly press down the cover handle to puncture the K-Cup pod and hold it in place.
Lights in all three dispense-size buttons will start to blink, asking you to make a selection.
  5. Press the dispense-size button for the desired amount to be dispensed:  6 oz.,   8 oz.,  or  10 oz.
Don't select a size larger than the cup you put on the drip tray, or the cup may overflow.
The selected button's light will turn solid; the others will turn off.
  6. Brewing takes place.
    • The light of the selected dispense size will remain lit; the others will stay off.
    • A "boiling" sound starts after less than a minute.
    • It normally takes one or two minutes to complete the brew.
    • Hot liquid will then dispense into the cup.
    • When all three dispense-size lights turn solid white, dispensing has completed.
  7. Remove the used K-Cup only after all the dispense-size lights are solid white, to avoid the boiling water!
    1. Raise the handle of the pod holder.
    2. Take out and discard the old K-Cup pod.
    3. Close the cover of the pod holder.
  8. Remove the cup of brewed liquid.
If you just brewed a cappuccino or cocoa cup, see the CLEANUP NOTE below.
  9. If you want to brew another cup, just start at the top of these instructions.
  10. Otherwise, the coffee maker will power off automatically after about five minutes.
(You can instead press the power button to power off the coffee maker immediately.)
CLEANUP NOTE

Immediately after using one of the following types of K-Cup pods, some cleanup is required to avoid clogging the coffee maker:    Cappuccino Cocoa

To do the cleaning, put a large coffee cup on the drip tray under the spout to collect the cleanup waste. Then do an "empty brew" by following the instructions above, but not inserting a new K-Cup pod in Step 4 after removing the just-used cappuccino or cocoa pod. Instead, raise and lower the cover of the K-Cup pod holder, leaving the holder empty. Select a dispense size of 10 oz. Then let the water boil and drain into the waste cup. After dispensing is complete, discard the hot water from the waste cup. Now normal processing can take place for the next K-Cup pod.
