Comments on 2019.v.1 Chief Judge Pocket Guide and CJ Supply List
-------- -- -------- ----- ----- ------ ----- --- -- ------ ----

Below I reference some of my 7/20/19 comments on other documents,
http://jgkhome.name/WakeBOE/Comments_on_2019.v.1_Documents.txt. The
CJPG repeats some of that material and I have extended my comments here.

After the 7/31/19 tour and DS200 demo, I had sent an email to elections@
with some DS200 comments. I thought some could be of relevance to the
CJPG, which was still unpublished. I hope that email was received. I
didn't put that comment text on my website. Let me know if I should
resend the email.

Chief Judge Pocket Guide (2019.v.1)
----- ----- ------ -----

Page 10: Is there a way to say which side should be up for the power
plug that goes into the DS200? I think at the DS200 demo,
after we had struggled with it for a while, someone said the
flat side should be up. But I may not be remembering this
correctly. There should be some published hint since
inserting it was not easy. Nor was removing it.

Page 16: (last block on left side)
Ballot Too Long -> Ballot Held Too Long
(I sure hope the message text doesn't say "Ballot Too Long".)

Page 17: In my 7/20/19 comments, in the VAQG section I questioned the
"open the Emergency Bin" in the bottom left block of Common
Tabulator Error Messages, thinking only about all the printing
done at poll closing. I now see that this error might also
occur when we try to open the polls, although it's hard to
believe you would send out a tabulator with no paper. Maybe
the Cause block should just add "or had some malfunction".

Page 18: In my 7/20/19 comments, in the VAQG section I had asked about
the Ballot Jam Flow Chart, does the DS200 unambigously display
whether the jammed ballot was counted? I should have asked
Tom this question at the DS200 demo, but forgot.

Page 21: The candidate/campaigner "food gifts" prohibition was removed.
Intentional? It's not something I could ever enforce very
well anyway at my polling site where the candidates and
campaigners are typically quite far away from the voting
          enclosure.

Page 30: Remote site closing time has reverted to 9:00. Intentional?
(I hope this earlier time is not intentional, for reasons I
have often documented.) Last year I think there was a typo
for this 9:00 instead of 9:30 in an early CJPG version.

Chief Judge Supply List (link on website)
----- ----- ------ ----

If you meant to provide a link to this list now (vs. a "Coming Soon"),
you provided the wrong link. Currently you show the 2018 list. That's
wrong for 2019, e.g., the 2018 list still includes the write-in ballots
bag. Also, the "(if issued)" for the mobile phone equipment is probably
incorrect; I understand that (almost) all CJs will now be issued a
mobile phone. Anyway, the CJPG has removed "(if issued)", which seems
correct to me.
