* *** ASSIGNMENTS_DIAGRAMS_2026-03-03 TXT - 27 Feb 2026 12:45:14 - JGKNAUTH Assignments for 3/3/26 Election =========== === ====== ======== The chart below will help introduce you to each other. It lists your *initial* assignment on Election Day. (The following page has more information on initial and later Election Day assignments.) The chart notes whether you are a Judge or Assistant and if you have had Help Table training for this election. It also lists the number of elections you have worked before this one, as well as your party affiliation. A "#" means you are working out-of-precinct. "?????" means the Staffing Team has not assigned this Official (and probably won't). Put RT/BT/HT/CJ/CS/dining tables and all chairs in place (approximate positions for the moment). Lay out 18'-long, wide blue tape as RT "WAIT UNTIL CALLED" line (narrow masking tape in the middle). Align middle of this line with the middle of the RT table -- consider voter path space to BT. Lay out masking tape sides for the three RT lines. Distribute gray bin items; move empty bin behind the BT. Set up sign stands at back and front of RT waiting lines. Move ExpressVote, Tabulator base, and trash cans to their final positions. Set up chair barricades to block some doors. Set up Help Table using kit and checklist. -------------------------- Barbara Set up Ballot Table using kit and checklist. ------------------------ Karen, (Debra won't be at Monday setup) Set up Registration Table using kit and checklist. ------------------ Diane, Judy, JohnD Set up ExpressVote and test it by a poweron. ------------------------ Mike, JohnS I have the black key and also have an extension cord, if needed. The CS work is described in the "Curbside Processing" section of the Assignments email. The TM work is already well documented in the Voter Assistance Quick Guide. The Door Monitor (DM) controls the voter entry into Friendship Hall if we have a line waiting to enter, as may happen with surges during the day. If one or more of the three RT lines starts to become empty while the others are not, the DM can ask voters waiting outside the Hall if any have last-name letters that match the empty line(s); if so, at least some can be moved ahead to the appropriate RT line. The DM also reminds entering voters to be sure they have brought in their photo ID. Of course the voters have already passed multiple signs with this reminder, but some may ignore all signs. The Line Monitor (LM) directs voters to the appropriate RT line, per the first letter of their last name. Often the LM position is combined with the DM. However if the DM and LM stations are far apart (e.g., the entry door and the RT lines are widely separated), the LM and DM should be separate; then the LM usually handles the empty-line query described above. The Voting Booth (VB) Official guides people to available booths and then from the booths to the Tabulator. The Tabulator may be out of sight from where some people voted. The VB keeps the booth area clean, e.g., removing discarded campaign handouts and maybe discovers things voters have accidentally left behind, e.g., keys, eyeglasses, and driver licenses have been found. The VB also works with the BT Officials to keep the ATV and Tabulator counts in sync. This is done by providing to the BT the current Tabulator count and the number of ballots that have not yet gotten into the Tabulator after leaving the BT. Voters with such ballots are on the way to a booth, or are in a booth, or are on the way to the Tabulator after leaving a booth. The VB may also act as a Curbside Official (CS) if a second CS Official is needed. If that appears likely, I'll go over the CS flow with anyone who will do CS work. Curbside work is complicated, but clearly laid out in https://jgkhome.name/WakeBOE/curbside-2026-March.htm , which documents some required steps that the Manual and privacy sleeve insert do not mention. I'll provide a copy of that diagram to each CS Official to take with them on their trips between the car and Voting Enclosure. Depending on how many Precinct Officials the Staffing Team finally provides to us, we will probably have to combine some of these positions. As it currently stands, we will *NOT* place a Door Monitor at the Lobby entrance, but instead will combine the DM and LM positions and place the DM/LM Official at the door from the Lobby into Friendship Hall. We may (again) find that curbside traffic is very large (or just clumped) and have to draft Officials from their current positions to provide enough CS Officials. I'll make some additional signs to put on the openable (left-side) Lobby door, the non-openable (right-side) Lobby door, the side panels, and the very nearby (non-openable) white door to the Hall. These should act as a virtual DM and will be in addition to the standard "Voter Entrance" and "Not a Voter Entrance" signs that the BOE supplies. One needed sign will tell campaigners they cannot use the Hope Lutheran restrooms. Also there will be another of my many "Don't Forget: Bring in your PHOTO ID" signs. For the planned sign layouts on the Lobby doors, see https://jgkhome.name/WakeBOE/Hope_Lutheran_Lobby_Doors.pdf Starting at poll closing time, I and the two Judges will be tied up closing out the Tabulator, packing the ballot boxes, sticking on labels, checking and signing many forms, sealing bags, etc. Everyone else, i.e., all the Assistants, will be handling the packing-up tasks described in https://jgkhome.name/WakeBOE/Packing_Up_after_Election_HLC.htm and in the "All Officials Quick Guide". Debra will be our Pack-Up Coordinator. Jeff
